Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A serving Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, Moti Ram Jat, has been arrested in Delhi by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly leaking classified national security information to Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) since 2023. Authorities say he was actively involved in espionage operations for over a year.
Investigators revealed that Jat shared sensitive documents and information with Pakistani handlers and received monetary compensation routed through various informal channels. The NIA arrested him in Delhi and presented him before the Patiala House Court, which has remanded him to custody till June 6 for further interrogation.
This arrest comes amid heightened security vigilance after the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The crackdown has so far led to 12 arrests across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in connection with Pakistan-backed espionage activities. Authorities believe a well-coordinated spy network is operating across northern India.
Among the arrested are two women influencers, Jyoti Malhotra from Haryana and Guzala from Punjab, both allegedly in touch with a Pakistani officer named Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, based at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. The investigation continues as agencies work to dismantle the wider network.
